Water Tower Fines Wines grew out of David and Jan Lazarus' passion for wine and their enthusiasm to share their knowledge and expertise in a friendly and inviting environment. Their passion now extends to over 14,000 bottles of wine in their shop nestled in Mt. Washington on the east side of Cincinnati Ohio.

Known as Cincinnati’s premier wine shop, Water Tower Fine Wines features one of the largest in-stock selections in the country. We have many impossible to find rare wines and verticals.

We endeavor to educate our customers on the joys of trying new wines, reaching beyond the standard varietals and labels. We focus on sampling as many wines as possible.

Our Mechanics

We house two WineStation machines with temperature control systems. Our happy hour runs daily from 4 - 7 pm with all WineStation pours half price. Enjoy a glass or create your own wine flight.

We offer weekly wine tastings along with a variety of special events. Chef Jan creates amazing appetizers and customized catered events.

Verticals

We like vertical collections at Water Tower Fine wines. A vertical is usually
three or more vintages of the same wines. They can be consecutive years or
can have breaks in the sequence.
Verticals allow those lucky enough to sample them an opportunity to see how
wines develop with age. As long as the same wine maker is involved in
making the wine, it will be more similar than different from year to year. You,
as the taster, get to see what time does to the developing wine. We have
verticals ranging from three years to ten years and more. Stop in to see our
collections.

A Word About Points

You may be wondering why Water Tower Fine Wines does not display points for our huge
collection. A wine point system is a score assigned by a single wine critic to a specific bottle of
wine; therefore, it is one person’s subjective opinion.
We do value opinions at our store–most importantly, yours. We take to the time to get to
know your tastes, palate and budget and can suggest wines based on your needs. And yes, we
carry many award-winning wines as well as numerous others that are only discoverable
because we thoughtfully and carefully curate many off-the-beaten-path wines.
